Our Warranty — Protection in Writing
Every roof we install is backed two ways: the manufacturer's material warranty and our own workmanship warranty.
A roofing warranty shouldn't be a mystery you discover the day something goes wrong. Before any work begins, we walk you through exactly what's covered, by whom, and for how long — in writing.
Roofing warranties generally cover two distinct things, and it's important to understand both:
1. Manufacturer's Material Warranty
Covers defects in the roofing materials themselves — shingles that fail prematurely due to a manufacturing problem. We install systems from established manufacturers like Owens Corning, Malarkey, CertainTeed, and IKO, whose warranties are substantial — but every manufacturer warranty assumes correct installation. That's why certified installation isn't a luxury; it's what keeps your coverage valid.
2. Our Workmanship Warranty
Covers the installation itself — the flashing details, fastening, and ventilation work that turn good materials into a watertight system. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we make it right. As a local contractor with 17+ years in the Puget Sound area, we're here to stand behind that promise — not a phone number that disconnects after storm season.
How to Protect Your Warranty
- Keep the roof maintained. Manufacturer warranties assume reasonable upkeep — established moss or years of debris can give grounds to deny a claim.
- Document maintenance. Our maintenance visits produce photo-documented records that support any future claim.
- Address small problems promptly. A minor issue left through two wet seasons stops being a warranty conversation and starts being a damage conversation.
- Keep your paperwork. We provide everything in writing — estimate, contract, and warranty terms — so there's never a question about what was promised.
Warranty FAQs
What does the manufacturer's warranty cover?
Material defects — shingles that fail prematurely because of a manufacturing problem. Manufacturers like Owens Corning, Malarkey, CertainTeed, and IKO back their products with substantial warranties, but they require correct installation, which is why certified installation matters.
What does the workmanship warranty cover?
The installation itself — flashing details, fastening, ventilation, and the labor that turns materials into a watertight system. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we make it right. We'll walk you through exactly what's covered and for how long before moving forward.
Can maintenance affect my warranty?
Yes. Most manufacturer warranties assume reasonable upkeep — and neglect, especially established moss, can give a manufacturer grounds to deny a claim. Documented regular maintenance protects both your roof and your coverage.
What should I do if I think I have a warranty issue?
Call us at (425) 270-1525. We'll inspect the roof, determine whether the issue is material or workmanship, document it, and either fix it or help you pursue the manufacturer claim.
